It catches the sunlight in a gorgeous rainbow. It flashes, sparkles, twinkles. It winks and dances just barely far enough that your outstretched hand will miss it, as it rides on the wings of the wind. It drifts back down, describing circles in the air. Finally you catch it, that glittering sphere, and you marvel at the rainbow orb in your soapy hand. A moment later you are turning to pursue another, smiling and laughing at the winking bubbles swirling around. Familiar? Or is it only LBA kids who love to chase bubbles?
Because LBA kids really do love to run after those bubbles. There were bubble machines and wands out for the kids to enjoy today. At first the kids waved their bubble wands, turning soapy water into gleaming, sparkling bubbles like magic.
When the kids eventually exhausted the enjoyment in making their own bubbles, they turned to the bubble machine and went running after the bubbles, reaching for them, swiping at those rainbow orbs with their feet. Once everyone had had their fun running around, the teacher asked the kids to make a circle around the bubble machine. The LBA kids stood shifting excitedly in anticipation, waiting to ambush the bubbles as the rainbow spheres fled their hiding spots in the machine for the great blue sky above.
A bubble escapes the circle. The children laugh as the bubble catches the sunlight in a gorgeous rainbow, as the bubble flashes, sparkles, twinkles, as it winks, as it dances just barely far enough that their outstretched hand will miss it, as it rides the wings of the wind, as it drifts back down, describing circles in the air. Until it rests on a child’s soapy palm, a rainbow orb. Then the child runs off to catch the next one, a smile shining like that bubble in the sunlight.
